Ridgemount Cottage Nursery began its story in 1994, when the doors of a lovingly converted dairy opened to welcome just one child. From those humble beginnings, we’ve blossomed into a vibrant, joyful community—full of laughter, discovery, and a touch of delightful messiness! While much has changed over the years, our core values remain the same: to create a warm, nurturing, and playful environment where every child feels safe, encouraged, and free to be their brilliant, unique self.
Exploration.
We've designed our outdoor area with our intrepid explorers in mind. Whether they enjoy den-making and tree-climbing in our woodland area, working with nature in our cottage garden and veg patch, or just getting messy in the mud kitchen, there is something for everyone. Just don't forget your welly boots!
Discovery.

Imagination helps children find their own joy and way of learning. We offer open-ended activities so children can discover what works for them, while also playing alongside their friends. Our skilled team are always there to support each child’s development while they are busy having fun.
Independence.
We encourage children to independently make choices in their everyday routine. We support children to build relationships, creating sociable, happy children who will be confident making friends in the next stage of their journey, whether that’s at Ridgemount, primary school or on a fishing boat off the Galapagos islands.
Community.
We have church visits, library visits, coffee mornings for parents and grandparents, trips to the retirement home and much more. We want children to love their close community as well as their larger one, helping the charities we support such as The Wildlife Trust. After all, individually we are a drop but together we are an ocean.
